Coach Mike Goza and the Lionettes soccer team started their busy week off with a game against Walker Valley on Monday, and another game on Tuesday against Sequatchie County.

The team took the field against Walker Valley with only 10 players including Alaire Gage (?13), Mikayla Cabrera (?15), Harleigh Cooley (?13), Taylor Cooley (?15), Kaitlyn Brooks (?14), Alexandria Oviatt (?12), Amanda Richards (?12), Summer Bull (?14), and Sierra Johnson (?12). A traditional soccer game usually consists of 11 players on the field, but the lack of preparation for the game haunted the team.

?The referees usually check to see if the players are wearing the correct uniform,? said Coach Goza. ? Also, attending practice regularly is a must to play in the game.?

Red Bank was down 2-0 by halftime. Lacreasha Couch (?12) suffered an abrasion on her left arm, but rose up like a true lion, scoring the team?s first and only goal during the second half.

?You cannot give another team a head start if you expect to beat them,? said Amanda Richards (12?). ?I think that if we worked harder and made smarter passes, we could have won.?

Red Bank lost the game with a score of 4-1, but made up for it on Tuesday night.

The girls were ready to play Sequatchie County this time with a total game score of 3-2.

Alaire Gage (?13), or ?Killer?, played very aggressively towards the middle of the game, knocking down a Sequatchie player. Lacreasha Couch was also a dangerous player. Couch scored all 3 of the team?s goals. Rachelle Garcia (?15) showed a lot of poise starting in the left defense.

?Sequatchie County and Walker Valley are the same types of team,? said Goza.??The difference in the results is primarily due to our attitude.?
