Find out how the victim died at the CSI: The Experience autopsy lab.

By Rob Lovitt, msnbc.com contributor

Spin-offs: They?re not just for television shows anymore.

Just as the popular Las Vegas?based police procedural ?CSI: Crime Scene Investigation? has given rise to ?CSI: NY? and ?CSI: Miami,? the interactive exhibit based on the popular franchise is hitting the road.

On Tuesday, touring versions of CSI: The Experience will open at Discovery Times Square?in New York and at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.

Combining forensic science and popular entertainment, the attractions will invite would-be CSIs to answer the age-old question: ?Whoooo are you, who-who, who-who??

?Forensic science is a broad and interdisciplinary field that people find appealing,? said Christoph Rahofer, president and CEO of EMS ? Event Marketing Service GmbH, which organizes the show in conjunction with CBS Consumer Products. ?People like to figure things out; it?s very much like solving a puzzle.?

CBS Broadcasting, Entertainment AB Funding

At CSI: The Experience, this is the "Who Got Served?" crime scene for investigation.

Or, in this case, puzzles. As in the permanent attraction that debuted at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in 2009, the new exhibits present visitors with one of three gruesome scenarios ? a skeleton in the desert, a dead woman in an alley or a car crashed into a house ? and invite them to collect evidence, evaluate blood-spatter patterns, etc., to solve the crime.

Along the way, they?re guided by Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), Nick Stokes (George Eads) and other CSI cast members who offer advice via video monitors. After gathering evidence at the scene, visitors then analyze it in the lab before confronting what may be the scariest part of the exhibit: presenting their analysis to the quirky and enigmatic Gil Grissom himself.

As the man likes to say, ?Remember, the dead can?t speak for themselves. Listen to what the evidence is saying.?

Specific crime scenes aside, the evidence already suggests the attractions will draw eager crowds. According to Rahofer, some 300,000 people have visited the attraction in Las Vegas and 2 million have experienced previous versions of the touring show.

Cold corpses, it seems, are a hot commodity. ?You can turn on just about any channel these days and find ?Forensic Files,? ?NCIS? and other shows that bring in forensic science,? said Ronald Singer, technical and administrative director of the Tarrant County (Texas) Medical Examiner?s Office and an advisor to the exhibit.

For Singer, the exhibit?s true value is education, not entertainment: ?To a lot of people, science is a dry and dull subject,? he told msnbc.com. ?But when people see it in a real-life application like this, it shows that science has a real place in the world.?

Of course, so does entertainment, which may explain why Gil Grissom still anchors the exhibit, even though he?s been succeeded on the show by Ray Langston (Laurence Fishburne) and, in the current season, D.B. Russell (Ted Danson).

?When you hear the Who song, William Petersen just pops into your brain,? said Rahofer. ?He may just be doing guest appearances, but he?s still Mr. CSI.?

Math professor Maria G. Westdickenberg one of 94 recipients

President Obama named Maria G. Westdickenberg, associate professor in the School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology, as one of 94 recipients of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). The award is the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.

"I am very honored to receive this award, particularly because of its combined focus on research, education and outreach. As consuming and vital as research is, I think the call to train and inspire our young people and to reach out to underrepresented groups is equally vital. I am honored to be mentioned in the context of that effort," said Westdickenberg.

According to the White House, the PECASE awards embody the high priority the Obama Administration places on producing outstanding scientists and engineers to advance the nation's goals, tackle grand challenges, and contribute to the American economy. Sixteen federal departments and agencies join together annually to nominate the most meritorious scientists and engineers whose early accomplishments show the greatest promise for assuring America's preeminence in science and engineering and contributing to the awarding agencies' missions.

"It is inspiring to see the innovative work being done by these scientists and engineers as they ramp up their careers -- careers that I know will be not only personally rewarding but also invaluable to the nation," President Obama said. "That so many of them are also devoting time to mentoring and other forms of community service speaks volumes about their potential for leadership, not only as scientists but as model citizens."

Westdickenberg has been at Georgia Tech since 2006 where she works in applied mathematics.

"I get excited when there is a curious or surprising phenomenon that has been observed in physical or numerical experiments and that we can come to better understand through mathematical analysis," she said.

One example she gives of her work is determining how to calculate the effect of noise, or small thermal fluctuations, on small physical systems. Traditionally noise is rare and isn't much of a problem, but the smaller the system, the more likely those rare events can be, said Westdickenberg.

"Therefore as nanoscale and sub-nanoscale devices become more prevalent, these issues need to be understood more precisely than before," she said.

The awards, established by President Clinton in 1996, are coordinated by the Office of Science and Technology Policy within the Executive Office of the President. Awardees are selected for their pursuit of innovative research at the frontiers of science and technology and their commitment to community service as demonstrated through scientific leadership, public education or community outreach. Winning scientists and engineers have received research grants for up to five years to further their studies in support of critical government missions.

For Westdickenberg, teaching and outreach are just as vital to her career as research.

"There can be a tension in academia because research and teaching each make large demands on our time and energy. Sometimes teaching can suffer as a result. But what could be more important than teaching our young people," she said.

"When the students are engaged, teaching is thrilling. Personally, I find nothing as exciting as helping someone to reach the point where they can understand something new."

Cantaloupe illnesses and deaths expected to rise

(AP) ? Federal health officials said Wednesday more illnesses and possibly more deaths may be linked to an outbreak of listeria in cantaloupe in coming weeks.

So far, the outbreak has caused at least 72 illnesses ? including up to 16 deaths ? in 18 states, making it the deadliest food outbreak in the United States in more than a decade.

The heads of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration said consumers who have cantaloupes produced by Jensen Farms in Colorado should throw them out. If they are not sure where the fruit is from, they shouldn't eat it.

Neither the government nor Jensen Farms has supplied a list of retailers who may have sold the fruit. Officials say consumers should ask retailers about the origins of their cantaloupe. If they still aren't sure, they should get rid of it.

"If it's not Jensen Farms, it's OK to eat," said Thomas Frieden, director of the CDC. "But if you can't confirm it's not Jensen Farms, then it's best to throw it out."

Jensen Farms of Holly, Colo. says it shipped cantaloupes to 25 states, though the FDA has said it may be more, and illnesses have been discovered in several states that were not on the shipping list. A spokeswoman for Jensen Farms said the company's product is often sold and resold, so they do not always know where it went.

The recalled cantaloupes may be labeled "Colorado Grown," ''Distributed by Frontera Produce," ''Jensenfarms.com" or "Sweet Rocky Fords." Not all of the recalled cantaloupes are labeled with a sticker, the FDA said. The company said it shipped out more than 300,000 cases of cantaloupes that contained five to 15 melons, meaning the recall involved 1.5 million to 4.5 million pieces of fruit.

Frieden and FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg said that illnesses are expected for weeks to come because the incubation period for listeria can be a month or even longer. That means that someone who ate contaminated cantaloupe last week may not get sick until next month. Jensen Farms last shipped cantaloupes on Sept. 10. The shelf life is about two weeks.

"We will see more cases likely through October," Hamburg said.

The Food and Drug Administration said state health officials found listeria in cantaloupes taken from Colorado grocery stores and from a victim's home that were grown at Jensen Farms. Matching strains of the disease were found on equipment and cantaloupe samples at Jensen Farms' packing facility in Granada, Colo.

Sherri McGarry, a senior adviser in the FDA's Office of Foods, said the agency is looking at the farm's water supply and possible animal intrusions among other things in trying to figure out how the cantaloupes became contaminated. Listeria bacteria grow in moist, muddy conditions and are often carried by animals.

The health officials said this is the first known outbreak of listeria in cantaloupe. Listeria is generally found in processed meats and unpasteurized milk and cheese, though there have been a growing number of outbreaks in produce. Hamburg called the outbreak a "surprise" and said the agencies are studying it closely to find out how it happened.

Cantaloupe is often the source of outbreaks, however. Frieden said CDC had identified 10 other cantaloupe outbreaks in the last decade, most of them from salmonella.

Listeria is more deadly than well-known pathogens like salmonella and E. coli, though those outbreaks generally cause many more illnesses. Twenty-one people died in an outbreak of listeria poisoning in 1998 traced to contaminated hot dogs and possibly deli meats made by Bil Mar Foods, a subsidiary of Sara Lee Corp. Another large listeria outbreak, in 1985, killed 52 people and was linked to Mexican-style soft cheese.

Listeria generally only sickens the elderly, pregnant women and others with compromised immune systems. The CDC said the median age of those sickened is 78 and that 1 in 5 who contract the disease can die from it. Symptoms include fever and muscle aches, often with other gastrointestinal symptoms.

Unlike many pathogens, listeria bacteria can grow at room temperatures and even refrigerator temperatures. It is hardy and can linger long after the source of the contamination is gone ? health officials say people who may have had the contaminated fruit in their kitchens should clean and sanitize any surfaces it may have touched.

The CDC said Tuesday that 13 deaths are linked to the tainted fruit. State and local officials say they are investigating three additional deaths that may be connected.

The death toll released by the CDC Tuesday surpassed the number of deaths linked to an outbreak of salmonella in peanuts almost three years ago. Nine people died in that outbreak. The CDC reported four deaths in New Mexico, two deaths each in Colorado and Texas and one death each in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Maryland.

New Mexico officials said Tuesday they are investigating a fifth death, while health authorities in Kansas and Wyoming said they too are investigating additional deaths possibly linked to the tainted fruit.

The CDC reported the 72 illnesses and deaths in 18 states. Cases of listeria were reported in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The most illnesses were reported in Colorado, which has seen 15 sickened. Fourteen illnesses were reported in Texas, 10 in New Mexico and eight in Oklahoma.

While most healthy adults can consume listeria with no ill effects, it can kill the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. It is also dangerous to pregnant women because it easily passes through to the fetus. The CDC's Frieden said that two of those sickened were pregnant women but they have since recovered.

Opening statements begin in Jackson doc's trial (AP)

LOS ANGELES ? Opening statements began Tuesday in the trial of the doctor accused of killing Michael Jackson, with a prosecutor saying the superstar's misplaced trust in the doctor led to his death.

Deputy District Attorney David Walgren showed jurors a slide of Jackson on a gurney and said he would detail what happened in the final hours of the singer's life, from the time he left rehearsals to the time that paramedics were summoned to his rented mansion.

Jackson died of an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol.

"What happened during that time frame is that the acts and omissions of Michael Jackson's personal doctor Conrad Murray directly led to his premature death at age 50."

He said Jackson trusted Murray as his physician.

"That misplaced trust in Conrad Murray cost Michael Jackson his life," Walgren said.

Testimony was expected to begin later in the day.

A number of Jackson's family members were in the courthouse, including his father Joseph, mother Katherine, sisters LaToya and Janet, and brothers Jermaine, Randy and Tito.

LaToya Jackson carried a sunflower, Michael's favorite flower.

Murray arrived holding hands with his mother.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter and he and his attorneys have denied he gave Jackson anything that should have killed the pop superstar.

The trial opened with a bit of star power and the one thing the King of Pop enjoyed throughout his life ? a worldwide audience.

Proceedings will be televised and broadcast online. More than a dozen satellite trucks and news vans were parked within a block of the courthouse.

Much of the testimony will focus on propofol, which is normally administered in hospital settings. Authorities contend Murray administered a lethal dose of the drug along with other sedatives, and lacked the proper lifesaving equipment to revive Jackson.

Defense attorneys will present an alternate theory ? that Jackson ingested or somehow gave himself the fatal dose.

While much is known about Jackson's June 2009 death, the trial will reveal new information and provide a detailed record of the singer's final hours. Murray's trial is expected to be the first time that the public hears ? in the defendant's own words ? his account of what happened in the bedroom of Jackson's rented mansion.

Prosecutors plan to call the pop superstar's friend and choreographer, Kenny Ortega, as their first witness in the case.

Defense attorneys for Murray, who could face four years in prison and the loss of his medical license if convicted of involuntary manslaughter, hope to poke holes in the prosecution's case and present jurors with their own theory that the singer was culpable for his own death.

Ortega testified at a hearing earlier this year that Murray warned him not to try to act as Jackson's physician or psychiatrist after Ortega sent the singer home from rehearsals for his final concerts because he appeared to be sick. He is also likely the best witness to walk jurors through footage of Jackson's final rehearsals that were used for the film "This Is It," which will be played in part for jurors. Ortega served as choreographer for the aborted shows and director of the theatrical film.

For most of the jury, it will be their first exposure to the footage. Only two indicated on questionnaires filled out before the trial that they had seen any portion of "This Is It."

Prosecutors plan to play a recording of the physician's interview with police conducted two days after Jackson's death, when he revealed that he had been giving the entertainer the anesthetic propofol as a sleep aid. The disclosure led to Murray being charged in February 2010 and nearly 20 months of legal wrangling over how the trial will be conducted.

Witnesses' recollections and conclusions about the events will be challenged to a far greater extent than they were during a preliminary hearing earlier this year that resulted in a judge ruling there was enough evidence for Murray to stand trial. Defense attorneys did not present a case or make an opening statement during that hearing, but lead defense attorney Ed Chernoff is expected to lay out Murray's side to jurors on Tuesday.

Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor has limited what Murray's lawyers can say about Jackson's history with drugs and his financial troubles. Prosecutors are similarly prohibited from mentioning some of the messy details of the doctor's personal life, including his sizeable debts and that he had several mistresses.

Metastasized brain cancer treated with IsoRay's Cs-131 ...

RICHLAND, WA, 26 September 2011 ? IsoRay (AMEX: ISR), a medical technology company and innovator in seed brachytherapy and medical radioisotope applications, announced today that doctors at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center have performed the world's first treatment of metastasized brain cancer using IsoRay's Cesium-131 brachytherapy (internal radiation therapy) seeds. The seeds were implanted directly into a woman's brain to treat a cancer that had originated in the breast. Treatment of metastasized cancers, cancers that originate in other organs, is the latest application of IsoRay's pioneering brachytherapy treatment that represents one of the most important advancements in internal radiation therapy in the last 20 years.

Brain cancer treatment often involves removal of the brain tumor and then waiting several weeks while patients heal from the surgery before beginning external beam radiation treatment. However, delays in treatment can increase the chance of tumor recurrence. According to recent comments by New York Presbyterian Radiation Oncologist Dr. A. Gabriella Wernicke, M.D., M.Sc.,Cesium-131 offers an important alternative because it gives doctors the opportunity to act immediately. "By implanting the seeds into the surgical cavity right away, we essentially avoid the wait and therefore prevent the potential recurrence of the tumor at the surgical site," she explained. For a personal testimony, listen to the patient who received the first, groundbreaking treatment in her own words and learn more regarding the procedure at http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/health/medical_breakthroughs/brain-seeds%3A-planting-tumor-fighters

Since the successful treatment of the first patient, doctors at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center have expanded their use of IsoRay's patented Cesium-131 brachytherapy seeds to treat more than 20 other patients with recurrent Glioblastomas as well as metastasized brain cancer.

Cesium-131 offers many benefits over previously available alternatives. It does not require the many weeks of follow on treatment necessary in traditional external beam radiation, which involves numerous return trips to the hospital. In fact, Cesium-131 seeds deliver radiation quickly and aggressively compared to other types of internal, low dose rate radiation and limit damage to healthy surrounding tissues and organs. This is because of Cesium-131's shorter half life of 9.7 days compared to other radioactive isotopes used in internal radiation therapy. This pioneering treatment directly impacts longevity and the potential of recurrence, while improving quality of life and offering the opportunity for patients to return to normal activities more quickly.

soRay CEO Dwight Babcock says that he sees this as just the beginning. "The thought leaders at New York Presbyterian Hospital/ Weill Cornell Medical Center were among the early adopters of Cesium-131 because they were quick to recognize the important advantages Cesium-131 offers patients. I strongly believe that adoption of Cesium-131 for the treatment of primary and metastasized cancers will continue growing at an increasing rate as the medical community becomes aware of the significant advantages it offers in treating cancer sites throughout the body."

Babcock went on to say that the Company now has more than one leading-edge alternative to offer doctors and patients in their fight against brain cancer. "With the FDA's recent clearance of our GliaSite? balloon catheter internal radiation device and the application of Cesium-131 brachytherapy seeds, we now offer two powerful alternatives to fight this dreaded disease and help prevent its recurrence. This is a major advance in the war on cancer," he explained.

IsoRay is the exclusive manufacturer of Cesium-131. In addition to its CMS codes, Cesium-131 is FDA-cleared for the treatment of prostate cancer, lung cancer, ocular melanoma cancer, brain cancer, colorectal cancer, gynecological cancer, and head and neck cancer and other cancers throughout the body.

About IsoRay, Inc.

IsoRay, Inc., through its subsidiary, IsoRay Medical, Inc., is the sole producer of Cesium-131 brachytherapy seeds, which are expanding brachytherapy options throughout the body. Translation For Globalization | Articles Bold

Translation is a career which is among the most in-demand nowadays. The act of translating is similar to interpreting. However, while interpreters deal with verbal communication, translators work primarily with written words. Companies that aim to expand their reach globally need translation services. It?s because written texts and documents develop into more practical communication tools when translated to the language of the localized audience.

A translator deals with various types of documents. Most of these documents are highly technical in nature. For various purposes, translators work on legal, medical, financial, and technical data. In addition, websites and software need translations when they cater to the global market.

Translation Skills: What It Takes To Be A Translator

Among the crucial factors of being a translator is the ability to speak two or more languages. But still, you need more than that to come up with effective translation. You should have a good grasp of the languages. Besides being fluent, you also should possess good writing and editing skills. This will help you organize the materials as you translate them from one language to another.

You could also concentrate on a certain field of specialization to get ahead in your translation career. Translators find themselves well sought after if they have more than the layman?s knowledge in medicine, law, engineering, or accounting. This is because clients seek out translators that are already adept at using the language of a specific field. Therefore, translators who have a certain specialization find themselves at an advantage in terms of bagging these projects. For instance, accountant-translators can understand financial documents easily. In the same manner, those who have studied law can efficiently translate legal documents.

Transcreation And How It Differs From Translation

Transcreation is a branch of translation. It is a close cousin to translation in a way that the translator recreates the original text in another different language. This is where it differs. Translating requires word-for-word accuracy. Transcreating simply requires a recreation of the message to be effective. A translation company hires other professionals specializing in interpreting, linguistics, and proofreading. Software managers on the other hand work well with text-based interpretations on new technologies.

Transcreation does not only keep the meaning intact, but it recreates the way it?s said to conform to the language being used. It is a most useful form of translation when dealing with advertising copy.

Being adept in two or more languages is essential to come up with effective interpretation. The same thing applies to translation, although the latter deals more with the written text. (6829)

Exotic pets ? none.
for the meat market. Increase Yak. The meat is supposed to taste a lot like widespread beef cattle but it is much more healthy. Even more so than Bison, deer or any other bestial. Google Yak, and get the tackle of ranches in Colorado and elsewhere that offer younger yak for breeding.

Which Fighting Style Is The Most Effective For MMA? | AutoRoll ...

Present day mixed martial art battles rarely pit a single style against one other style. Though wrestlers

could be stronger within a single fighting style, each serious competitor cross trains within the three

primary components of mixed fighting arts:

Striking

Thru the years most selfdefense skills faded away from mixed martial arts competition, while other

ones strengthened. Notably taekwandoo, kung fu, and karate have all demonstrated to be insufficient in the

cage over further striking styles. Kickboxing, American boxing and Muay Thai with its focus on

knees, kicks and elbows have proven the most highly effective striking art within mixed martial-arts.

Wrestling

The capability of taking your contestant down toward the mat, and the capacity of protecting against

takedowns will be disparaging in mixed martial arts. Wrestlers who have a dominant wrestling style

oftentimes take down their opponents and punish them using strikes while they keep them from the

ability to get back up.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

During the begining of mixed martial-arts, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?s success in the sport was due in

part due to the truth that many of the opponents didn't possess any data in submission

defense. Now wrestlers and strikers all train fundamental submission defense in order to keep

themselves from being arm-barred or choked out.

As most conventional selfdefense skills were demonstrated not to be effective within cage fights, there

include some exceptions. Lyoto Machida, previous UFC Champ, baffles opponents with his unusual

stance that is heavily influenced in karate. Machida?s striking style isn't just karate; his style integrates

boxing striking theories, footwork, and range.

The best fighters around the world are nicely rounded within all three elements of mixed martial-arts. One

of the finest MMA wrestlers across the planet BJ Penn, is well known for his advanced submission abilities, yet

also has got amazing takedown defense, incredible jabs and what some might say, the best

boxing in the UFC. Hall of Famer and previous light heavyweight champion, Chuck Lidell was known

for his glorious knockout power. Though principally well-known as a striker, Chuck?s extended background

in wrestling helped him in earning a reputation as an expert within takedown defense. Even the top

fighters of UFC experienced a hard time taking Lidell down and keeping the fighter down.

Choosing A Data Recovery Company After Hard Drive Disasters ...

In the constantly evolving world of computers there is expensive research and development necessary to keep up with new technology in data recovery not only for hard drives but other storage media devices and servers. Companies who are at the forefront of the technology have paid for the R & D which becomes a factor in successful pricing. However, like any new sector where there is a vacuum to fill and opportunity to exploit, companies offering low prices for data recovery have sprung up to make a fast profit. As in many sectors business opportunists look for the latest trend and open a company offering sub-par services at a substantially discounted rate, often unbelievable low. Every company has had to offer free evaluation in order to compete.

If a stricken company needs data file recovery of important and confidential information they should not send the hard drive to the company with the cheapest prices. The main reason is that they may not be able to restore data that a more sophisticated and experienced firm could get back for you. Moreover, the drive, disk, or device may get contaminated and further damaged by a failed effort. Even if the company advertises low prices, they will have hidden service fees they will present if a recovery is possible. Price should be the last thing on your mind when faced with a technological problem; you want the best laboratory and staff to save your business information if it has been lost. Large corporations understand this and have service providers chosen for whenever data loss problems occur.

With the rise of personal computers even consumers have need for data recovery services ? even if only for sentimental files like family and vacation pictures that people forgot to back up when they bought a new laptop. Many have home businesses and aren?t completely organized when a virus strikes and cripples the hard drive. It often takes a few mistakes to remember to consistently do a back up every day or every hour if necessary.

Computers are vital on every level to businesses. Data gets backed up regularly as the first line of defense against a malfunction caused by a virus, a power surge, a blackout, fire, flood, pestilence, or a vandal on the other side of the world hacking into systems just to cause havoc. Data, especially recent entries that haven?t been backed up yet, can get lost, damaged or corrupt due to physical damage to the storage device or logical damage to the file system installed on the host operating system. Various types of data can be recovered, including deleted files, corrupt files, damaged or deleted partition, missing partition, and corrupt or missing operating system files.

Data recovery is one of those services that can rescue the operation of a company and the qualified operators can do it cleanly in sterile laboratories in a short period of time. Being competitive includes excellent customer service for often panic-stricken clients who have their fingers crossed that they?ve come to the right experts.

?The fact that the hearing panel of judges stayed the judgment tentative the outcome of the appeal, and that the Supreme Judicial Court released a proxy suspension, as against to a disbarment, tentative the outcome of the appeal, speaks for itself. Art and Politics: The compatibility of smart?

Move in any society, not art and politics do not always along too well. While in some cases, political art as a tool to achieve certain political strategies that apply in other cases, the art is seen as an enemy of the state (government). This is obvious for two reasons. The first reason is that, as the campaigns of political activities, rallies and other events using similar forms of art such as posters, printed on T-shirts, flags, make invoiceTables, etc. to get the best result in the objectives of these events. In this way, art is seen not only as a tool for political goals, but also as a friend because of pure politics without it (art) policy, it would have difficult to express or communicate his interest to the public (masses) in a way that would be easy to understand. For example, taking pictures of aspiring politicians to bring in visual form as a posterCompetitors know closer to the people and the people, who are these people said, though, in most cases are not the candidates one-on-one meeting before the election.

Given this scenario it is for one person, group or community with an aspiring politician (for aspiring governor, president or senatorial positions) by identifying simply wearing a cap or T-shirts bearing the image of the hood (in the case of a printed commonIndividual) or the installation of a bill board at the entrance to a community or at strategic locations in the capital city or the metropolis. In this sense, art is not only a connection between the people on behalf of (mass) and those who for political office, but also provides the channels through which their interests to the public would express their election campaigns. All these arts to a good friend in politics.

The second reason is somewhat at odds with the firstsuperimposed. This is because if an artist works, do not speak well of an existing policy of the Government made, politicians are a superior enemy. For example, draw cartoons in the newspaper or other periodical publications on critical issues, the giving to the masses that the government refuses to attention. A cartoon designed for light or cause your thoughts on the issue of resource control in the Niger Delta, for example, describes the leading robust and healthy, while the masses who suffer from conditions in hit powerless and poverty would be represented. The satirical images are displayed, to entertain and still attract the attention of society to be a problem of critical need. Political leaders at the forefront of things consider cartoons as art or as set by their government or the regime to sabotage. Instead, art forms look like a visual feedback about the need to address or correct the ills ofCompanies to work out> to implement good policies and update / functional for the benefit of the masses who are suffering, they see (eg forms of art) in the back.

Looking at the two opposite sides of the above, are art and politics in intermittent conflict. This is because, where the practice of true art lives, leaders are not easy to manipulate or deceive the masses, the art without losing their (the politicians) suffer evilPlans / intelligence. This is probably why the most of the governments or regimes undermine the art market for fear of not being used against them. Noting that the cultural policies that a turnaround and growth and development of art could bring to a country either frustrated or given any attention. That's pretty unhealthy not only for the promotion of art, but also for the whole cultural development of a region. Art is an important element ofCulture and if you have the culture of this region would also suffer irretrievably.

Therefore, if the art is so important that it can ", as (to name a few) is a powerful tool or a means of achieving political goals in such events as political campaigns and rallies of the party used to be, should receive appropriate recognition by the leaders Politicians are given the power to have its growth through significant political speed.

Report: Further cuts devastating to military (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Automatic cuts to defense spending that will take place if Congress doesn't come up with a budget-reduction plan would have devastating consequences, including undermining the military's ability to simultaneously fight more than one war, according to a report by House Republicans.

Republicans from the House Armed Services Committee estimated that defense cuts could reach $1 trillion over a 10-year period. That includes the $465 billion that Republicans say is already slated to be cut under the deficit reduction package enacted in early August. The White House Office of Management and Budget, using a differing baseline, puts the already determined cuts at $350 billion.

"Deeper cuts to our military, which has already endured the largest share of cuts in government spending, would be irresponsible," the report concluded.

The deficit reduction act set up a special bipartisan committee to come up with $1.5 trillion in government savings. If it fails, or Congress rejects its proposals, automatic cuts of $1.2 trillion would occur from the 2013 budget year, with half coming from defense.

Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard "Buck" McKeon, R-Calif., has been vociferous in warning against the consequences of those further cuts, even suggesting that he might back an increase in revenue through taxes to avoid deeper cuts in defense. He has also said it might force the military to revive the draft.

The committee report was drawn up independent of a yet-unfinished Pentagon study of how the cuts would affect the military, but committee staffers pointed to a letter from Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and White House budget chief Jacob Lew to McKeon last week in justifying their dire predictions.

Lew and Panetta said that if the automatic cuts occur, the spending level for 2013 as outlined in President Barack Obama's budget plan would be reduced by as much as 15 to 25 percent, depending on whether the president exempts military personnel funding. They said the Pentagon would almost certainly have to furlough large numbers of its civilian workers, curtail training, reduce forces and dramatically cut weapons purchases.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen said at a congressional hearing Thursday that the automatic cuts have "a good chance of breaking us. And breaking faith with this all-volunteer force."

The committee report estimated that, with the automatic cuts, the Army and Marine personnel numbers, now at 771,400, would fall to 571,000, below Sept. 11 levels. Navy ships would fall from 288 today to 238 and Air Force fighters from 1,990 to 1,512.

It said the Marines would be particularly hard hit, with its ability to conduct amphibious assaults, non-combatant evacuations or humanitarian relief in a hostile environment put in question.

The decline in services for military personnel and their families and longer deployments "will cause many of our troops to vote with their feet and leave the force. Our all-volunteer military could become unsustainable."

States such as Virginia, Texas and California would be heavily impacted as at least 25 percent of the civilian workforce, some 200,000 jobs, could be furloughed, it said.

The top Democrat on the Armed Services panel, Adam Smith of Washington, said he shared the Republican concern that across-the-board cuts could damage national security. He also urged them to abandon their refusal to consider new tax revenues in coming up with a deficit reduction plan.

In order to avoid arbitrary cuts in defense and other programs, he said, "we must put revenue on the table and we must undergo a comprehensive strategic review to understand how best to spend the defense dollars we have."
