REMSEN -- Errors plagued Remsen St. Mary's in a 15-10 loss to Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in War Eagle Conference play Monday.

The Hawks outhit the visiting Eagles 17 to 15, but six errors proved costly.

MMC jumped out to an early lead with a five-run first inning. The Eagles plated another pair in the second to lead 7-2 after two innings of action.

RSM plated four runs in the fourth to cut its deficit to 7-6, but that was as close as the Hawks would get.

MMC scored one in the fifth and five more in the sixth to lead 13-6 before RSM scored three in the bottom of the sixth.

The Eagles added two runs in the top of the seventh and the Hawks managed one more run in the bottom of the final frame.

Miranda Staab faced 45 batters in the complete-game effort. She allowed 15 runs - seven earned - on 15 hits and three walks. She struck out two.

Paige Harpeanu paced the Hawks with a 4-for-5 showing that included two singles, a double, a triple and three RBI.

Anyssa Trejo went 3-for-4 with a double while Alexis Bunkers went 2-for-4 with a double and Makenzie Ricke was 2-for-5 with a double.

Emma Krier went 2-for-4 and Staab went 2-for-5 for the Hawks, who totaled 17 hits in the loss.

RSM will get another chance at MMC on Tuesday evening in Cleghorn in a makeup game from earlier this season.
