'Barney's Version,' 'Rabbit Hole,' 'Greatest Movie Ever Sold' Make Munich Fest Lineup

COLOGNE, Germany - The Munich Film Festival has again sampled heavily from the lineups of Cannes, Sundance, Toronto and Venice to serve up a tasty smorgasbord for its 2011 event.

Two Cannes favorites will bookend Munich this year, with Jury Prize winner The Kid With A Bike from Belgian masters Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, opening the German fest June 24 and Aki Kaurismaki's French-language 'unrealistic drama Le Havre, closing it July 2. Among the Sundance selections are Rashaad Ernesto Green's Gun Hill Road, Miguel Arteta-directed comedy Cedar Rapids, Thomas McCarthy's Win Win and the documentaries The Greatest Movie Ever Sold from Morgan Spurlock;? Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel from Alex Stapleton and The Black Power Mix Tape 1967-1975 from Sweden's Goran Olsson.

Mixtape will screen as part of a Swedish film sidebar that includes Daniel Espinosa's crime hit Easy Money, Lisa?Aschan's She Monkeys and Martin?Jern's Savage. Munich will also screen a retrospective of the entire works of acclaimed Swedish director Roy Andersson, including such award-winning features as A Swedish Love Story and Stories from the Second Floor.

From Toronto and Venice, Munich has picked a star-heavy selection including Henry's Crime with Keanu Reeves, Kevin Spacey vehicle Casino Jack, Rabbit Hole with Nicole Kidman, The Solitude of Prime Numbers featuring Isabella Rossellini and Barney's Version starring Paul Giamatti.

Speaking of stars, Munich this year will honor Oscar-nominee John Malkovich as well as Georgian director Otar Iosseliani with its lifetime achievement honors, the CineMerit Awards and will screen a retrospective of the films of U.S. indie filmmaker Tom DiCillo, who will also attend.
